Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania dance troupe Sadiqa (meaning girlfriend in Arabic) brings its own innovative sense of Middle Eastern Dance to the stage. Their unique approach to this ancient artform is a fusion of traditional and contemporary movement complimented by a variety of music whether live or recorded. Their elegant and fluid dancing combined with sharp, defined movement shows this duos precision and charm.
Troupe members Kari Merlina and Joanna Abel can be seen performing regularly around Pittsburgh and at national events. Joanna and Kari are also available for hire for a variety of events to include workshops, private lessons, and special occasions. The ladies of Sadiqa also teach weekly classes. Kari teaches lessons on Mondays at Father Ryan Arts Center in McKees Rocks and on Tuesdays in Crafton at the Joy School of Dance and Joanna teaches on Thursdays at 3rd Street Belly Dance above the Double Door Gallery in Carnegie.
